April Ball represents clients in business and estate planning matters, and is licensed in California and New York. April has worked for the accounting firm of KPMG LLP as a tax specialist for high net-worth families, professionals and athletes. In addition, she ran a law firm transactional department to represent entrepreneurs, families, entertainers and professionals in both business and estate planning. In her business practice, April negotiates mergers, complex contracts and interstate deals. She leads teams in multi-national transactions, complex business structures, intellectual property licensing, securities and limited offerings under Regulation D. April is general counsel for several corporations and senior attorney editor for Thomson Reuters.
As part of April’s estate planning practice, she puts clients at ease while reviewing and preparing trusts, wills, powers of attorney, lifetime gifts and property agreements. She works with individuals, families, charitable organizations and prominent banking establishments on complex estates and trust funding. April has represented clients in both probate and conservatorship litigation cases. Because of her specialized experience, April’s law practice considers the tax implication of each legal transaction, and she has worked with litigation teams in developing structured settlements. She has successfully achieved tax-exempt status for 501(c)(3) organizations and favorable IRS determinations for pension plans.April has earned law firm awards and local recognition for her work with women’s organizations, community groups and pro bono services. She routinely delivered presentations on business matters, same-sex marriage, estate planning and asset protection at Fortune 500 companies, physician associations and attorney & judicial groups.
When not lawyering, April practices yoga & pilates, coordinates for the Read to Succeed program and is an elementary school volunteer.
